ADOPT A CLASS at Lincoln Elementary School

Club members celebrated the end of the school year with their adopt-a-class at Lincoln Elementary with a pizza party.  Participating members who read to the class each week (back row l to r) were Anne Bailey, Jeanine Knowles, Martie Lennane and Vicki Martin.  The Club presented each child with a bag containing books and other items to keep them busy through the summer months.  very rewarding experience for both the students and the Altrusans!

Our Club continues to support the Beaman Home Emergency Shelter and outreach Center that we founded 30 years ago.  We volunteer to help with mailings, events and in this photograph we are filling folders with key domestic violence information to be provided to local emergency responders.

We have supported the Grace College Mentors for kids program at Jefferson Elementary for many years by preparing and serving their annual banquet meal.  We also provide books to the elementary students, and this year we partnered with Kosciusko Literacy Services to provide a wide variety of reading materials.  The children get excited when they are able to select their books...and we enjoy working with the Grace College mentors.

Awards for 2015-2016 fiscal year presented by the President at the annual banquet included:

Service Award Martie Lennane

President's Award   Vicky Patterson

Program Meetings Keep Us Informed

Almost every month a program is presented by community organizations to keep our members informed.  These program meetings sometimes result in new service projects for our club.  Recently Bob Sanders spoke about the Kosciusko County Cancer Care Fund which provides financial assistance to local cancer patients.  Well over $100,000 annually helps patients with rent/mortgage, utilities, car payments/repairs/insurance/gas, food, life insurance, medications and lodging.
