Altrusa Scholarship Winner

                                            

Maya Alexander and her mother Catherine attended our dinner meeting to receive the scholarship.  Also in the photo are members of the Scholarship Committee:  Judy Forgey, Nancy Hughes, and Ken Field.

Maya, a recent graduate of West Lafayette High School, will be attending Miami University of Ohio in the fall, majoring in Social Entrepreneurship.  in addition to being an honor student, a member of the school soccer team, and a cellist in the orchestra, Maya was founder and president of the Hanna Center Organization, a school club serving disadvantaged children.  She was also a member of the Student Humanitarian organization, a school club that cooks and serves dinner at a soup kitchen and hosts an annual fundraiser for AIDS prevention in Africa.
